Richard "Rick" Wootton has been practicing law since 1989, mostly as a trial attorney. Starting off as a Navy prosecutor, Rick has also worked for state regulatory agencies in Texas & Montana, an insurance defense law firm in Texas, and several Colorado personal injury law firms, including his own personal injury law firm in Colorado Springs. Rick was pleased to rejoin the ranks of attorneys who represent injured people when he joined the team at Odegaard Injury Lawyers in 2025.
When he was not overseas due to his father’s work in the international oilfield, Rick grew up mostly in Colorado. After high school, he went to Texas to study law enforcement/police science, earning his undergraduate degree at Sam Houston State University before joining the Navy in 1982. After several years as an Intelligence Officer, the Navy sent Rick to law school at the University of Texas, after which Rick spent many years as a Navy JAG attorney until he retired as a Commander in 2005.
Rick and his wife, Rhonda, began regular visits to Montana in 2012 to spend time with family in Helena. After years of extended visits, Rick and Rhonda had fallen in love with Montana and moved from Colorado Springs to Helena in 2018. Rick and Rhonda have a blended family of two sons, two daughters, and 10 grandsons. Outside of work, Rick enjoys traveling with Rhonda (especially to see the six grandsons who live outside of Montana).
Rick has law licenses in Montana, Colorado & Texas, but his only active license is in Montana.
